Ephesians 1:12-13:
12That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise.
Salvation is so simple, yet we make it so complicated. We feel we have to do something, taking what Jesus has done and saying it is not enough. Really, we should realise the magnitude of what Christ did for us. We need to realise how His blood totally washed us clean and that by our own works we cannot make ourselves any cleaner. It is only by the yielding to the gift Jesus gave to us when He went to that cross that we can be called God’s children. (John 1:12)
So just how simple is salvation and receiving all the blessings that the Bible talks about, that most Christians miss? It is this simple: Acknowledge Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and be led be led by the Holy Spirit. For those who do not know who or what purpose the Holy Spirit is for, here it is. Because no matter what you might think or what you may have heard, all the things and I mean all the things of God are simple to understand. That is why we are told to come as a little child in order to receive His kingdom (Luke 18.17). And why it tells in I Corinthians 14:33 that God is not the author of confusion.
But, where most make a mistake is when they try to rationalise and get natural mind into the things of God. This is the same for the Holy Spirit and why a lot of Christians miss it. This is why a lot are not living in what they have been promised by God and expect Him to fulfill.
Because realise this simple fact, when Jesus said it is finished, that’s what he meant. There is nothing more He is going to do, until He comes back. See, you have been created for a purpose and God has made a plan for your life. You were and still are blessed. But, if you want to see this manifested in your life, you are going to have to walk in the path He has already made for you.
How you do that is by the leading of the Holy Spirit, the one that was promised to those who believe in Christ Jesus as their Saviour.
John 15:26: 26But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me.
The comforter is the Holy Spirit that was sent to us, and is what makes our spirit alive (born again Romans 8.10-11) and also makes our mortal bodies alive. This is what happens when you ask Jesus into your heart. He sends the comforter (The Holy Spirit) to make your spirit (the real you) alive again, to dwell with you and lead you into the things of God. It could not be simpler. The problem for most though is they do not listen to this voice. And you will hear this voice when you acknowledge Jesus as your Saviour. But, if you do not listen to it, and continue not to listen to it, the voice will slowly go away.
The Holy Spirit will never force you to do anything. He will let you do whatever you want, because there is nothing but freedom when you are in Christ Jesus. But, if you do not listen to the voice, do not expect to live or have the promises of God. Because what you are doing when you do not obey the voice of the Holy Spirit is saying that your plan is better than God’s plan for your life. And by doing this all you can ever receive is the benefits your plan has. So ask yourself this, if I’m not going to obey the Holy Spirit and walk in God’s plan for my life, what does my plan have to offer? What, at the end of my plan will I have or receive for it?
Realise also that the Bible talks very strongly about those who are not led by His Holy Spirit.
John 8:47: 47He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
Romans 8.14: 14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Because if you are not listening to the Holy Spirit you will being to question whether you are really a child of God, because Romans 8:16 also tells us that the Holy Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God.
So if you want to be a Christian. If you want to possess the blessings of the Bible, all you have to do is acknowledge Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and the Holy Spirit comes and dwells in you. And our Bibles tell us in John 16:13-15 what He will do:
13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
So become a child of God, and be led by the Spirit!
If you would like to receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour just pray this simple prayer:
God in heaven,
I know I have not lived my life for you, but I would like to change that today. Today I confess that I believe in your son Jesus and that He died on the cross for me. I accept the free gift of life you have given through the blood that Jesus shed, for all sin. I believe in my heart that you raised Jesus from the dead and He is alive. I ask you into my heart and make you my Lord and saviour.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you just prayed this prayer you are now a born-again creature and the Holy Spirit lives on the inside of you. To have the glorious life the Bible promises all you have to do is obey that still small voice and He will lead you into all the great things God has intended for you.
Romans 10.9-10:
9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
