 Tongues are very important. When you are praying in tongues, you are talking to God and not unto men. By praying in tongues you are speaking to God, through your Holy Spirit, which is your connection to Him. I Corinthians 14:2 says: For one who speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

Tongues help you pray for things that you need and do not even know about. Romans 8:26-27 says: ²⁶In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. ²⁷And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.

The Spirit will only pray for the things of God. Isn’t that is just amazing? That’s why when you are speaking in the natural; you really have to watch what you say. You have to be careful of what you pray for and confess over your life. But when you are speaking in tongues, it is not you (the natural you) who speaks, but the Spirit which is in you. Your Spirit is born again, in God. It knows no defeat; it knows no failure and knows no sin. It has all been washed away by the blood of Jesus!

So when He is speaking, through tongues. He is only speaking victory, only speaking positive. The Spirit will never contradict Himself. But, if you are praying in the natural, you can mess up sometimes.

Praying in tongues will get you the knowledge of the Holy Ghost. This is knowledge from our heavenly Father. In John 1:33 it says: ³³And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

John 3.34 says: For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God hath giveth not the Spirit by measure unto Him.

But you have to obey. You have to be a Bible believer. Because blessing follows obedience and you can only obey, if you know what the Bible says. Remember, there is no grey area in God. You either believe or you don’t! And it is only through the Spirit that you can believe the things of God. I Corinthians 2:11 says: For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit which is in him? Even so the things of God no man knoweth, but the spirit of God.

So start praying in tongues. Put the Holy Spirit to work for you. Because tongues will pray for things you do not even know to pray about. They will allow you to talk to God, and build your faith up. More importantly; they will allow you to have a true relationship with God. They will put you in His will for your life, which is total victory!
