What is the reason God sent and gave His only Son to the world? We need to understand that the reason was not only for us; but for Him. Many think that the only reason God sent Jesus was to save us. This is an important factor, but it is not the entire motivation God had when He sent Jesus. He had a much bigger plan than that for His creation. In the word it says that whoever believes in Jesus with their heart and confesses Him as their Saviour have eternal life. But, what is eternal life? Do you know?
It is more than most believe it is; it is something greater than you could ever imagine. It is more than living forever and never spiritually dying. It was the greatest gift that man had ever experienced. It was the reason God created us. And the day Christ rose from the grave, it was returned to us.
In John 3 we see that God has given us eternal life through His Son. He confirms it twice, in both verse 15 and 16:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting (or eternal) life.
He said the purpose He sent His Son was to save you from perishing and to give you eternal life. And He said it not only twice in one chapter, but He it two scriptures in a row, two times in a row. He wanted to make sure you got it.
There are two parts to the Gift of Jesus. The first is to stop you from perishing. If you haven’t accepted the fact that Jesus shed His blood for you and paid the price for your sin; you are slowly perishing. Little by little by little, bit by bit, you are going to hell. And whether you admit it or not, you know you are.
And verse 17 of John 3 says that He does not condemn you, but He came to keep you from slowly dying and going to hell. He loves you and you know He loves you. So don’t let the devil lie to you and tell you He doesn’t, because he will. The devil will come and knock on your door, point out every mistake you make and try to entice you to do all kinds of dumb things. But don’t let him! Because he is the father of lies and there’s no truth in him. Jesus saved you from that, so don’t accept it.
The second part of the Gift of Jesus is eternal life. Do you know why God created Adam in the first place? His reason for creating mankind hasn’t changed since the sixth day. It hasn’t changed and never will change, never. It will never change.
In John 17:3 Jesus tells us what eternal life is. Jesus said it. The words are red and Jesus said it:
John 17:3: 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
The Amplified says it this way: 3 And this is eternal life: [it means] to know ( to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the]Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom you have sent.
God created man to be one with Him. We were created to know Him and love Him and experience a true oneness with Him. So, who is this God?
