 Never forget where you come from. This is what I was told by my boss, as I am leaving to go to Bible School. Never forget where you come from. The words hang on hard, and I do not want them to. My Bible tells me to forget those things that are behind, and press towards the mark and high calling of Christ Jesus. But then revelation, no you should never forget where you come from, because it is a part of who you are. It is what makes you, and influences your decisions you make today.

I now realise that one of the most important things is to never forget where I am from. But truth be told, I am not from Thunder Bay Ontario Canada. No, I am a citizen of heaven as it states in Philippians 3:20.

I am a child of God as it says in John 1:12. This is really who I am and where I come from. See it is very important to know where you come from, because you represent that place.

Just like in the Olympics athletes gather and represent their countries. Realise that you are an ambassador of Christ, you represent heaven! So don’t give it a bad name! II Corinthians 5:20 tells us this: ²⁰We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

Like an athlete we must train everyday, work to get better everyday. Because we don’t just represent God every four years, we represent Him everyday. Whether you like it or not, once you tell someone you are a Christian they begin to watch. Understand that when a person makes a statement of a belief in an unseen God, it gets attention. And by calling God your Father, you will get even more attention. Remember when Jesus did this? The Pharisees called it blasphemy.

So understand you represent something. Do not just on your own merry way, doing your own thing. Realise where you come from and who you are. Everybody should know you are a Christian, without you even having to tell them. Because we are not of this world, but just in this world as it says in John 17:14: ¹⁴I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Have you ever noticed rich kids? They think their something else. You know just by the way they act where they come from. Their born with a silver spoon in their mouth and act like they deserve the easy life they live, even though they have never worked a day in their life. We should be this way too! Yes, we don’t deserve the life Jesus gave to us.

But, that is just the point, it’s all about Jesus. He died on the cross so that we could have this glorious life! How it must sadden Him to see us live in any kind of form of life that He took away by His payment. He must say, don’t they know where they come from? Don’t they know who they are? So always remember where you come from and never forget to act like where you come from. And if someone ever asks you where you come from, be sure to tell them!
