 The devil is the master of deception. It is the only weapon he has, without it he is powerless. Deception is how sin happens. Because we would not, knowing the consequences; sin. We are deceived into thinking that sin satisfies us, or our flesh. When really, it is nothing more than deception and only after the action has taken place do we see that it is the destroyer of our lives.

So really deception is the number one thing we have to watch out for. This is the only weapon and authority the devil has; unless we willing give him more, as believers. Because realise this one simple fact, if the devil can’t deceive you; he cannot defeat you. But the devil will knock on your door everyday with deception. He knows his time is running out, and he wants to get as many kills as he can. He doesn’t care who, he kills his own, so why don’t you think he would want you? Believe me, he wants you dead! Because once you’re dead, you are no longer a threat to him. He doesn’t have to worry about you getting on fire for the Lord, and saving souls!

But, the devil is nasty. He will show you things in the natural that are a complete and utter lie. The problem is most of us Christians accept these lies, and then actually ask God to deliver us from them! What ever happened to being the kings that Jesus is King over? What ever happened to being the lords that Jesus is Lord over, as I Timothy refers to us as? We were meant to rule and reign, yet when hard times come, we just crumble like cookies! We take no authority, over the devil that has been put under our feet; thanks to our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus.

So how and why are we deceived to this kind of level, that we believe we believe the lies of the devil and in some ways feel we are powerless to him? The answer is very simple, sad really, but is why most of us Christians are not living the abundant life Jesus has given us. James 1.22 in the amplified puts it this way: But be ye doers of the word (obey the message, or God’s word), and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves (into deception by reasoning contrary to the truth). Isn’t that amazing?

It is because we are not doers of the word that we fall for Satan’s lies! There is no other reason. It is not because maybe we miss heard God or He did not take care of us. It is because we did not act on the word, by obeying what God has told us to do. We need to realise that the word of God is in no way set into place to restrain us; but rather to set us totally free! The more we get in the word; the more set free we become. We can live the life we we’re created for and experience life the way God intended us to!

So you must understand the power of choice in your life. In Deuteronomy 30.19 God called heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore chose life; that both thou and thy seed may live. If you choose life and blessing, you choose to obey and act upon God’s word. If you choose death, you choose to not to obey or act upon God’s word.

Just like Adam and Eve had a choice set before them, you do also. They could have chosen to eat of the tree of life, but instead they ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Because understand that evil cannot just happen; you have to choose it. We as believers have been restored to the dominion that Adam had when the earth was first created; because of what our saviour has done. But we have to make the choice to take and use that authority. So don’t be deceived, but rather take your place in Christ, by acting and obeying the word of God!
